What's new in WhyFirst

A running record of what changes in each release, written in plain language.

v1.1.0

New

  • The pause opens on the page you are visiting

WhyFirst now draws the pause over the page itself instead of sending you to an extension tab. The site is already loaded underneath, so choosing Continue takes you back to it without a reload.

  • Settings show the pause while you edit

The intervention preferences pane now carries a live preview of the pause screen. The preview follows your changes, so you can judge a pause length before you leave the page.

  • Rules and the toolbar popup, rebuilt

Rules are compact rows that keep their match scope and recent activity in view, and a domain with a single rule no longer sits under a group header. The popup leads with today's numbers and the site you are on.

  • A clearer stats overview

The overview separates when visits happen, where they end up, and what your reasons were for. A site distribution bar and a reason timeline make the last 30 days readable without hunting through charts.

  • Optional automatic cleanup

In Settings, turn on Automatic cleanup to delete visit records and intervention logs older than the retention period you choose. It is off by default; when you enable it, the default period is 35 days.

Fixed

  • Continue no longer hangs while opening a site

If the extension takes too long to answer, the pause now returns control with an error you can retry, instead of leaving Continue disabled until you reload the page.

  • The focus schedule stays still

Saving a focus window no longer redraws the schedule twice, so the card keeps its rows instead of briefly disappearing and reappearing.

  • Pause length is editable again

The pause-length field accepts typing and stepping normally, and the Free and Pro boundary is applied where you change the value.

  • AI advanced settings no longer open empty

With AI enabled, “Advanced & fallback settings” no longer opens to an empty panel, and its title follows your interface language.
